Diablo 2 shields are a type of equipment that players can use to increase their defense and protection against physical attacks. They come in different shapes and sizes, and offer various bonuses such as increased block chance, increased damage reduction, and resistance to elemental damage.

There are several types of shields in Diablo II:

  • Bucklers: These are small, round shields that provide low defense but are lightweight and fast to use.
  • Small shields: These are slightly larger than bucklers and provide more defense but are still relatively fast to use.
  • Large shields: These are the largest type of shield, providing the most defense but also being the slowest to use.
  • Tower shields: These are the largest and most protective shields. They provide the highest defense, but also slowest movement.

Each shield type has its own unique properties, such as defense, block chance, and durability. Players can choose the shield that best suits their playing style. Some shields also come with additional bonuses such as resistance to certain element types, or increase certain attributes.

It is worth noting that in Diablo 2 shields only block chance was based on the characters dexterity, and not on the shield itself.
